No fault law, which Florida has, basically provides that regardless of who is at fault for an accident, your own insurance company is going to pay 80% of your medical bills, and 60% of your wages. In order to collect money for pain and suffering, mental anguish, and the effects of the accident has had on your life, you have to meet a certain threshold of injury, which, more often than not, is a permanent injury.
