West Palm Beach, FL – Road Worker Hit & Seriously Hurt on Congress Ave

West Palm Beach, FL (December 21, 2023) – A Miami man was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident that happened early Thursday morning, December 21, at the intersection of North Congress Avenue and Executive Center Drive, per official reports. According to a spokeswoman from the West Palm Beach Police Department, the construction worker was struck and seriously hurt in an overnight accident during road resurfacing.

Authorities say he was hit by a vehicle that drove into the work zone, sending him flying into another worker. A West Palm Beach Fire Rescue vehicle en route to another call stopped to help the man and take him to the hospital while witnesses called 911 for assistance. The man allegedly endured several hours of surgery due to the severity of his internal injuries. The second worker was unharmed, however. Authorities are now searching for a dark passenger vehicle in connection with the incident. The West Palm Beach Police Department is urging anybody with details about the crash or the hit-and-run driver to get in touch.
