Miami, FL – Truck Driver Rescued, Hospitalized in Dolphin Expy Crash

Miami, FL - Truck Driver Rescued, Hospitalized in Dolphin Expy Crash

Miami, FL (October 4, 2023) – A commissioner for Miami-Dade County and his sergeant at arms helped free a passenger from their vehicle after witnessing an accident on the Dolphin Expressway on a Wednesday afternoon.

Lt. Alex Camacho of the Florida Highway Patrol says the incident involved a truck hauling heavy materials near Northwest 87th Avenue.

When Miami-Dade County Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez and his sergeant at arms saw the accident, they stopped to help free the trapped truck driver. It’s unknown whether the driver was seriously hurt or how many victims were involved, though paramedics were shown by news footage evaluating multiple people.

The investigation into the cause of the wreck remains active in the meantime.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families.
