Miami, FL – Truck Driver Killed in Accident on I-95 at SR 84

Miami, FL (December 17, 2023) – After being blocked Friday morning due to a fatal collision, the northbound lanes of I-95 near State Route 84 reopened, but police continued to investigate. For almost seven hours, all lanes of the highway were inaccessible after a Nissan Altima and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash, which occurred at around 6:30 a.m. in the morning.

A Nissan driver was in the middle lane within the state when she apparently struck the back of a tractor-trailer, per the Florida Highway Patrol. As a result of the initial wreck, the tractor-trailer crashed through the highway barrier, overturned onto its roof, and then caught fire. The tractor-trailer driver died at the scene, though the other driver’s condition is unknown. However, EMTs assessed a number of injured victims at the site. An investigation remains active and ongoing in the interim.
