Miami, FL – Toddler Hospitalized After Pool Drowning on Miami Ave

Miami, FL - Toddler Hospitalized After Pool Drowning on Miami Ave

Miami, FL (January 5, 2024) – Officials from the City of Miami Fire Rescue stated that a toddler boy was discovered after drowning in a Miami-area pool on Friday, prompting an ambulance to rush the child to the hospital.

Reports came in from a residence on the 6200 block of North Miami Avenue, and first responders said that two Miami police officers arrived at the residence first and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the child until paramedics arrived.

The child was then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital by ground, according to officials, and is now described as being in critical condition. Per Freddie Cruz, a spokesperson for the Miami Police Department, investigators are looking into whether any adults were at the scene when the incident occurred. The MPD has not released additional information, however, and will handle the ongoing inquiry.

Our thoughts go out to the injured child and his family. We hope for his full recovery.
