Miami, FL – Three Hurt, Driver Arrested in Accident on 27th Ave
Miami, FL (December 6, 2023) – After injuring three people, including an officer, the motorist who ran a red light early Tuesday and crashed into a Miami Gardens police vehicle is facing charges, according to authorities.
As the officer reached the 167th Street light while on normal patrol northbound on 27th Avenue, a second car ran the red light and hit him, per Miami Gardens Police. The incident occurred at around 2:40 a.m. The officer and two additional occupants from the second vehicle were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The second car’s occupants were in serious but stable condition, while the officer is now home recovering after being discharged from the hospital. The second car’s driver was taken into custody after being charged with DUI, though an investigation remains active.
