Miami, FL – Police Chase, Crash Injures Victim on SR 836 at FL Trnpke

Miami, FL (September 29, 2023) – Police were pursuing a suspect in Florida City on Friday afternoon before an accident occurred on State Road 836 in Miami-Dade County.

The suspect vehicle was allegedly speeding in the eastbound lanes of State Route 836, popularly known as the Dolphin Expressway, near the Florida Turnpike. Police began pursuing the white 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by the suspect, as described on police scanner traffic.

Shortly thereafter, a crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Dolphin Expressway, close to Northwest 12th Avenue. The VW Jetta was encircled by armed Miami-Dade cops who were wearing bulletproof vests.

It’s unclear how many other drivers were involved in the collision, but authorities stated that one female victim needed assistance from the fire department and EMTs. Two suspects were also taken into custody.

Witnesses with any information regarding this case were asked to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers.
