Miami, FL - Injuries Reported in Police Pursuit, Crash on FL Trnpke

Miami, FL (January 16, 2024) – Authorities reported that a driver from Tamarac was apprehended after he was speeding just before a crash on the Florida Turnpike.

Reports indicate that at around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, while on patrol on Miami-Dade County’s northbound Turnpike, a trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol saw two cars accelerating to speeds of up to 112 mph. According to officers, one of the suspect vehicles then swerved from the inside to the outside lane and attempted to merge into the center lane, but collided with a Jeep from behind. Several persons in the Jeep were hospitalized, though their current conditions are unknown. No further information in connection to the suspect or the victims’ identifying details was released.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.
