Delray Beach, FL – German Barreto Identified in Fatal Wreck on Military Trl

Delray Beach, FL - German Barreto Identified in Fatal Wreck on Military Trl

Delray Beach, FL (February 10, 2024) – According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a man from West Palm Beach died earlier this week after a rear-end incident that sent his SUV crashing into a telephone pole in Delray Beach.

German Barreto was traveling north on Military Trail at approximately 3:00 a.m. when a Mercedes C250 struck his Toyota RAV4 from behind, according to its statement. Per the inquiry, the Mercedes collided with the left rear section of Barreto’s car, forcing it into the telephone pole. Barreto was later pronounced dead as a result of the wreck.

The Mercedes driver, who had minor injuries in the collision, may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police stated, which prompted the Sheriff’s Office to launch a criminal inquiry. No further details were released in the interim, however.

Our deepest condolences are with German Barreto’s family.
